The Query Clinic: Submit Your Work! (February Edition)
Authors, the doctors are in!
Welcome to the very first Query Clinic submission thread. This is where we stop talking about the craft and start applying it to your manuscripts.
As we discussed on the show, the difference between a “thanks, but no thanks” and a request for a full manuscript usually comes down to the first few minutes an agent spends with your work. Today, Chris and I are looking for the most “teachable” submissions to help the entire community level up.
How to Submit.
To keep things organised and ensure we have everything we need to give you a “Double-Vision” edit, please follow these steps:
1. The Email Submission.
Send your package to TheWritingCommunityChatShow@Gmail.com.
Subject Line: MUST be “Query Clinic”
Attach: Your Query Letter and your First 10 Pages (approx. 3,000 words) as a Word Doc or PDF.
2. The Thread Summary (Crucial!)
Once you’ve emailed us, drop a comment on this post with the following “Patient Record” so the community can follow along:
Working Title:
Genre:
The Elevator Pitch: (1–2 sentences maximum. Give us the hook!)
The “Why Now”: (e.g., “I’ve sent 10 queries and got 10 rejections,” or “I’m just about to start my journey.”)
What Happens Next?
Chris and I will be diving into the inbox. We will select submissions to feature in our upcoming deep-dive feedback posts and videos.
If you are selected: You will receive a line-by-line, “brutal-but-fair” critique of your pitch and your opening pages. We’ll show you exactly where the “bleeding” is and how to stitch it up.
If you aren’t selected this month: Don’t go anywhere. Reading the critiques of other people’s work is often where the biggest “Aha!” moments happen. You’ll start seeing your own work through an editor’s eyes.
A Quick Reminder for our Founding Members 🌟
If you are a Founding Member, remember that you don’t have to wait for the “lottery.” You have a Guaranteed Edit waiting for you. Just mention “Founding Member” in your email subject line, and you’ll move to the front of the queue for your private, comprehensive report and strategy call.
To have a greater understanding of that the Query Clinic is, and what it can offer you, read here.
The thread is now OPEN. We can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on.
