Capone 2020 review.
I do love amazing gangster films. Goodfellas, Scarface, The Godfather and damn, even Legend was a good recent addition. So when I heard that CAPONE was coming out in 2020 with the awesome Tom Hardy cast as Capone himself, I couldn't wait to see it. Cut to 1 hour and 45 mins later and I was left bitterly disappointed. The only thing that lingered was the imaginary scent of Capone's self defecation. Yes, Tom Hardy can help improve a poor plot but this film really didn't have an objective. The subtle story of the lost 10 million was exactly that, a very subtle story that had no effect on the overall ark. Other than that we watch Capone dealing with mental and physical deterioration. His mind bounces around from past to present, not nearly enough, and we get to see the damage it causes to his loyal family. I didn't feel connected enough to care and the gold plated Tommy gun was perhaps the most fun part, but in reality, even that wasn't very enjoyable.
I'm very sad to give this film 4 zombie heads out of 10.
